Presidential Announcements – February 2018


Dear SCP Members and Affiliate Colleagues:

Although this month has brought some trying times with the recent shootings in Parkland, Florida, it is great to see the leadership and activism taken on by the students and others in our communities. 

Also, we also have some good news on the internship front. I want to congratulate all the students who matched in this first round and wish the others going through Phase II the very best and of course congratulations to all the Eagles fans on the Super Bowl win!

With that said, here are some February Announcements:

APPIC results

News from the APPIC Phase I match results on Friday, 2/23/18.
3,163 applicants were successfully matched to internship positions in Phase I of the 2018 APPIC Match.   After many years of scarcity, there were more positions offered (3906) than registered students (3779).  More than half (51%) of all applicants who obtained a position matched to their first choice internship program, nearly three-quarters (73%) received one of their top two choices, and about six-in-seven (85%) received one of their top three choices. The total number of accredited positions (3383) represents a 43% increase in the past 6 years.
