APA Convention Travel Grant

The Division 17 Committee for Early Career Professionals is happy to announce two travel grants of $500 to be awarded for 2015 APA Convention. All Early Career Psychologists who are Division 17 members (within seven years receipt of their doctorate) are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a need for funding, are presenting at the APA Convention, and/or who are active in a Division 17 section, committee, or STG.

The application package must include the following information:

  1. Brief self-statement (500 words maximum): This statement should include a summary of your professional work, your interest in attending the APA Convention, and a description of what being an ECP in Division 17 means to you. In your statement, you should also detail any ways you have been involved in Division 17 (past or current involvement) and demonstrate your financial need for this grant to help you attend the convention.
  1. An abbreviated curriculum vitae (5 pages maximum): In your vitae, please highlight any significant achievements in your career as well as any leadership positions you have held as an early career psychologist (within APA, Division 17, and other related scholarly or professional organizations). The year you were awarded a doctorate in psychology should be clearly indicated.
  1. Please submit application materials electronically in a single Word document by February 21, 2015. Put your name and the name of the award in the subject line (e.g. Jane Smith, Division 17 ECP Travel Grant). Email materials to: Samantha Daniel, Ph.D. ([email protected]). All applications will be reviewed by the ECP Committee.

Award winners will be notified by March 15, 2015 and will be acknowledged during the Social Hour sponsored by the Committee on Early Career Psychologists at the APA Convention. Additionally, the winning awardees’ self statements will be published in the ECP newsletter.
