2017 September Announcements

Dear SCP Member and Affiliates Colleagues,

Before I share my announcements this month, I do want to acknowledge that it has been a trying time for many of us with the continued impact of the hurricanes, earthquakes, and explosions including the refugee crisis in Myanmar. My thoughts are with all who have been affected and hope that you have been able to connect with your families and friends. This is also a time for you to take care of yourselves as you continue to engage in the important work that you do in your settings.

The following list of SCP announcements and news items may be of interest to you:

SCP Endorses Rosie Phillips Davis, Ph.D. for President
SCP’s Executive Board voted to endorse one candidate for APA president, Rosie Phillips Davis, Ph.D. Please consider giving her your #1 vote in the APA President’s election this fall. You can read more about this by going to: https://scp.wpengine.com/scp-connect/general-anouncements/rosie-bingham-receives-sole-endorsement-d17-apa-president/

You can learn more about Rosie by going to her website: https://www.rosiebinghamforapapresident.com

By now, you should have received an email, or hard copy ballot if your email is not on file with APA, of the 2018 APA presidential election so that you can vote for Rosie. We need to advocate for her far and wide. Reach out to at least 10 APA members from other divisions that are the unusual suspects. If you have not received your APA ballot, please contact Garnett Coad, [email protected]. Thank you to those of you who have already voted!

Submitters will need to identify a minimum of two divisions that are relevant to the proposal content (and that would review the proposal). For more information, please refer to the APA 2018 Convention website. The Division 17 theme for this year’s conference is “Leadership through Advocacy: Influencing and Advancing Change.”

If you would like to develop a collaborative proposal or have any questions, please let us know. Contact SCP’s Program Chair for the 2018 convention, Melissa Morgan Consoli ([email protected]) and/or SCP President Arpana Inman ([email protected]).

Please note that this deadline is separate from the deadline for division programming of 12/1/2017. The 2018 APA Annual Conference Call for Proposals opened earlier this month.
