The Division 17 Early Career Professionals Committee is pleased to announce the winner of the 2013 ECP Travel Award. Cirleen DeBlaere is currently an Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology at Lehigh University and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Florida. Beginning August, 2013, she will be joining the faculty of Georgia State University as an Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology. Dr. DeBlaere’s research examines the experiences of individuals with multiple and intersecting marginalized identities. To date, her research has focused on the links of minority stressors (e.g., discrimination, prejudice, stigma) to mental health. She also investigates potential moderating and mediating variables in the minority stress-mental health relation to identify points of intervention and inform the development of mental health-promoting strategies for multiply marginalized individuals. Dr. DeBlaere’s research has been recognized with the 2011 TCP Major Contribution Award (APA Division 17), the 2012 Research on Psychotherapy with Women Award (APA Division 35), and the 2012 Women of Color Psychologies Award (Association for Women in Psychology). She is likewise invested in teaching and service activities that manifest her investment in diversity and social justice issues. These efforts were recognized with the 2012 Early Career Award for Distinguished Teaching and 2013 Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Faculty Award from Lehigh University. Finally, Dr. DeBlaere was a proud participant in the inaugural 2012 Division 17 Leadership Academy.
