Structure The Student Affiliates of Seventeen (SAS) has served as the representative body for student affiliates in the operations of the Society of Counseling Psychology (SCP) of the American Psychological Association (APA) since its formation in 1977. As part of its function, SAS has focused on supporting the professional development and well-being of students in counseling psychology and other aligned programs, promoting diversity and social justice with the training of counseling psychologists, enhancing student engagement with SAS and SCP, and advocating for and representing student needs and interests among the division. Under the leadership of the tri-chairs, J.D. Goates, Saumya Arora, and Asianna Harris, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville finished its term as the 16th and final host institution for SAS in August 2024, sunsetting the host institution leadership organizational structure.
